What are you looking for at MIP CANCUN?

I am particularly interested in discovering compelling scripted stories. This includes narratives that resonate with Latin American audiences, whether dramas, comedies, or thrillers. I’m looking for unique concepts, strong character development, and engaging plots that can translate well into various formats, whether for television or streaming services.

What are you bringing to MIP CANCUN?

I’m thrilled to present “Yo No Soy Mendoza”, our latest series produced by Sony Pictures Television. This project is particularly special to me as it’s the final original story from the brilliant Fernando Gaitán, the mind behind “Ugly Betty.”

The show was produced in Mexico and Colombia and follows the story of Julián García, a debt collector thrust into the high-stakes world of a casino president, Esteban Mendoza. As he navigates the challenges of assuming Mendoza’s identity, Julián finds himself torn between two women and a web of danger and intrigue. It’s a story filled with humor, romance, and unexpected twists that I believe will resonate with audiences.

We’ve assembled a fantastic team, including Miguel García Moreno, Juan Carlos Pérez, and Mariana Palos for development, with Jonathan Persan providing literary supervision. I’m also proud to work alongside a talented cast featuring Vadhir Derbez, Laura Londoño, and Elyfer Torres, among others.

I look forward to sharing more about our series with everyone at MIP CANCUN!

What is your favorite MIP CANCUN memory?

One of my most cherished memories from MIP CANCUN was attending my first event with Sony, where we screened “Playa Soledad”. It was an exciting experience to be part of the event, engage with industry professionals, and witness the cast Q&A and audiences’ reactions to the series.
