- Vanda Rapti is responsible for Viaplay Group’s international content sales of Nordic and European fiction series, documentaries and films. She also leads Viaplay’s SVOD channels in the UK, US and Canada and is the principal architect of the fast-expanding Viaplay Select, a b2b content product, which is already available in 30 markets since launching in April 2022. Viaplay Select enables partners to leverage Viaplay’s commissioning and acquisition activities for achieving premium exclusive and business efficient content offering for their own services in local markets.
- Born in Athens, Vanda holds a degree in law from the University of Athens, an LLM in Entertainment Law from the University of Westminster and a degree in piano from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and has also studied theatre in Athens and London. Vanda has been a member of the Athens Bar Association since 2001 and a solicitor at the Supreme Court of England and Wales since 2003.

On the content acquisition side, for Viaplay’s content distribution, Viaplay Select, and our international SVOD channels, we’re focused on discovering standout Nordic and European stories with the potential to resonate with audiences worldwide.
What are you bringing to MIPCOM
We are excited to bring an exceptional slate of high-quality Nordic and European dramas, documentaries and films, with our MIPCOM line-up boasting 18 nominations and 10 wins
Some of the gems we have for this market are:
- Crime drama Mafia, inspired by real events, follows the life of a notorious gangster who transformed Sweden in the 1990s from a peaceful nation to one plagued by gang conflicts, set against the backdrop of the Yugoslav war.
- The Hunt A Golden Calf-winning series based on the real-life investigation of a 16-year-old girl’s murder that gripped the Dutch nation.
- In the star-studded Dogma-style Danish drama Secrets, adult siblings Mads (Pilou Asbæk) and Eva (Iben Hjejle) navigate family relationships, abuse, and co-dependency as they struggle to set boundaries and break old patterns.
- Iconic actor Rutger Hauer kept the outside world at arm’s length. Through private, never-before-seen footage, his goddaughter uncovers his intimate world together with Hollywood colleagues Whoopi Goldberg, Mickey Rourke and Anton Corbijn in the documentary feature Like Tears in Rain
- Last but not least, following the success of season 1, we are thrilled to present the second season of Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter, an exciting adventure based on the world-famous story by renowned author Astrid Lindgren
What is your favourite MIPCOM memory?
My favorite MIPCOM memory has to be the Sunday lunches with the team by the beach—the perfect way to kick off the week.
An unexpected highlight was when we held a few late afternoon meetings on a hotel gym terrace, since the bar and lounge were closed for an event setup. A fun – aha moment – was when many years ago I was (in my role as SVP Acquisitions & Partnerships) attending the presentation of a major distributor where 9 out of their 10 new slate presented titles were Viaplay Originals.. A good nudge, it was time we launched our own distribution arm.
Hook: Do you have an interesting company news we could mention on Social Media?
We have some exciting news to share! In the past few days, our Viaplay titles The Hunt and This is Not a Christmas Movie won 5 Golden Calf awards at the Netherlands Film Festival. Additionally, we’re thrilled to be nominated for an International Emmy with One of the Boys, and our Danish drama Secrets is competing in the International Competition at Serielizados Fest.
