In this series, we highlight our clients to help them build connections that count, and shine ahead of MIPCOM.

What are you bringing to MIPCOM?

Part of our service is facilitating the use of cash rebates for productions in Malta and Malaysia. We want to make sure our clients know this can be a significant cost saving. An example is The Power Couple that we line-produce in Malta.

What are you looking for at MIPCOM?

Mipcom is an efficient way to reconnect with our clients but also to connect with IP owners that want to roll out their big or complex formats quicker. Producing these formats is a challenge, especially for the internal production companies of broadcasters and platforms. This is where we come in. We help rolling out big formats as happened with Ninja Warrior and Peking Express.

EcchoLab: what is this new venture and how can creatives get involved?

We feel that there is a creative gap at the moment.  Superindies are focused on developing inhouse IP and a lot of independent creative ideas get lost. Most broadcasters and platforms want to break into the IP value chain, but are also risk averse. So independent format creators have a hard time. EcchoLab wants to bridge the gap between independent IP and the broadcasters and platforms by offering pre-selection, packaging and sales to the creatives. To the broadcasters and platforms we offer the production expertise that makes them feel more secure about trying out new formats that they can co-own.

About Eccholine:

Eccholine is specialised in line-production and helps production companies, broadcasters and platforms to produce big formats that are technically challenging or produced in difficult locations. It launched Ninja Warrior in Europe by building the obstacle course and managing them on location. For the travel format Peking Express it organises the script development, international logistics and games which allows the clients to focus on the casting, editorial and post-production. Other formats that we service are Desafio The Box, Chef Unlimited, The Power Couple,…
