We also have an exclusive 24 hour terrestrial News channel which is ADA derana 24 and our digital platforms are Pulse (English), Gasma (Sinhala), Nadi (Tamil).
The Derana Media Network is Sri Lanka’s number one, not because we say so, it’s because the people of Sri lanka said so through surveys. TV Derana is a, 7-time winner of “Channel of the Year” at the People’s Awards, 6-time winner of “Youth Channel of the Year” at the People’s Awards Rated number one by 3 different polling agencies.
Back to back winner of the People’s Award for the best News provider brand in the nation – Ada Derana. That’s not all the network has been backed up by an array of other awards.
I am one of the members of the core team that launched the channel in the year 2005, and this is my 19th year attached to it. Being Director Programming of TV Derana has given me the opportunity to launch a variety of concepts and change the way Sri Lankans view television.
What are you looking for at MIPJUNIOR?
At MIPJUNIOR we are looking at buying content for Kids- movies, animation and live action series.
What is your favourite MIPCOM memory?
I have always looked forward to attending MIPCOM, apart from sourcing good content, it’s the only time I get to meet my media friends from other countries. And it has always helped me come back home with some fresh ideas. So for me, Mipcom is about finding new ideas, meeting friends and enjoying the scenic location.
