Speaking about The Face, the modelling competition format she brought to MIPCOM 2013 with Shine International, supermodel Naomi Campbell discussed the show’s success to date; its appeal to people beyond those into in fashion (“it’s good for girls’ self-esteem”, whatever their interests); how she enjoys her role as a producer on the show (a role she enjoys “because I’m bossy by nature”); and how The Face teaches aspiring models to deal with the industry’s highs and lows. “They have to have thick skin” if they get turned down for jobs, said Campbell. “I don’t want them to leave feeling bad about themselves; they were just not right for that particular job.”
